Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja is proud to introduce our three new Board Members, elected at our Annual General Meeting on the 28th of May, 2021:
Reverend James Christopher Kivunike, Diocesan Education Coordinator, Busoga Diocese
Reverend Kivunike is an esteemed member of the community, who has 35 years of experience in various sectors of society including: working with various youth organisations, serving as an ordained deacon at All Saints Cathedral in Kampala as well as serving as the Bishops Chaplain to the Bishop Chaplain of the Busoga Diocese. Reverend Kivunike has also served as the Diocesan Education Coordinator and the Diocesan Mission Coordinator at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe. In addition to this, he has served as the appointed Chaplain for various schools around Uganda. He currently serves as the Vicar at Buyengo Parish as well as maintaining his Diocesan Education Coordinator role at Christ’s Cathedral in Bugembe. We are very excited to add his vast knowledge and experience to the board of Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja!
Dr. Mumtaz Kassam, Senior Solicitor/Advocate and Diplomat
Ambassador Kassam is an invaluable addition to the board at Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja as a solicitor/advocate and diplomat. Dr. Kassam has international legal experience in Land and Commercial Law, Charities and N.G.O work, and Natural Resources Law. She has a keen interest in Immigration and minority issues particularly concerning marginalised women. Dr. Kassam pioneered the system of return of expropriated property claims in Uganda and acted for many expelled Ugandan Asians in formulating a just and workable policy on land issues, pertaining to both compensation and repossession claims. Ambassador Kassam has actively represented Uganda abroad and at home in multiple seminars promoting investment and tourism as well as various humanitarian efforts such as the Adjumani Refugee Settlement. She has helped to host and connect various foreign delegations with the appropriate political and organisational parties in Uganda to further promote the country’s interests and needs. We are very excited to have such an influential and charitable member as an addition to our board!
Mr. Donato Laboke, Sanlam Head of Marketing & Channel Development- East Africa.
Mr. Laboke is a highly accomplished marketing and strategic management professional with a breadth of experience in vast market sectors, who has a proven track record as a leader in his industry. Mr. Laboke brings an innovative approach and zeal to every role he has worked in; he does not believe in limitations of industries when it comes to business leadership and breaking the norms to help businesses break boundaries and tap into their growth potentials in the short and long term, which has helped him to turn businesses around and make them more sustainable and rewarding to their stakeholders. We, at Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja, welcome this energy and enthusiasm to constantly find new ways to improve .
Mr Laboke is also a Business Coach at EMAS Business School (Russia) MBA- Strategic Management program, an academic learning facilitator at the Insurance Training College (ITC) Uganda, a Non-Executive Director at Mount of Olives College Kakiri. A commission member at Federation of International Motorsport (FIM) Africa, Past President Uganda Bikers Association- a charity non-profit motorcycle riders association 2010/19. Served as a member of the Publicity, Education and Training Committee at Uganda Insurers Association (UIA) 2014/16 and was Profiled in Daily New Vision newspaper - Top 40 Men Under 40 vol. 2016.
