Education in the Community
By the time we find our patients, many of them are already very sick and have suffered for a long time before we meet them. Many don't know where to get the treatment they need and are in pain and scared. This is why we have started to regularly train and spread information about palliative care and our services throughout communities. We do this through 'Continuing Medical Education' sessions at local health centers, through radio broadcasts and through our over 90 trained Community Volunteers who spread information about RHHJ and bring patients from even the most remote areas.

We also take the time to educate patients and their caregivers about their illness. Many perceive their illness as a death sentence, so we inform them about their treatment options and dispel any fears related to operations, treatments, and clinics. Our goal is to ensure that every patient is knowledgeable about their illness and therefore able to advocate for themselves.
